Shop Smarter, Not Harder
|With so many items now being sold online, in stores, by individual sellers on various websites, and sight unseen, it can be hard to know when you’re getting a good deal and when you’re getting ripped off. Where are the best places to shop? And when is it better to wait for an item to get a little older so the price will drop on it? Sometimes, it can be hard to tell, but there are some tricks to save money while shopping. Here are a couple different ways you can shop smarter and not harder.
1. Shop clearance.
Most of the items there are marked down to under 50%. Often times, they’re just as nice as the other items in the store but they’re just looking for extra space so they’ll choose certain items to put on clearance to free up shelving. If you have your eye on a certain piece, it’s more often than not that you can go back to that same store in a couple months and it will be on clearance. Be patient while shopping. If you can wait, you’ll save money.
2. Shop for summer in winter and shop for winter in summer.
The best time to shop for a swimming suit is during the winter, and the best time to shop for a winter jacket is in the dead of summer. Why? Because that’s when those items are discounted the highest. You’ll be able to find the same item at the same quality for 80% off at some stores just because it’s out of season. Just like number 1, if you are able to wait until stores are trying to clear their shelves to make space for their other collections, you’ll be able to find items at much less than they would be otherwise.
3. Look for online deals.
There are plenty of sites out there that sell secondhand or refurbished items for much cheaper than you’d be able to find them anywhere else. For instance, if you’re looking for an iPhone 8 you can find one at a site like the one linked for much cheaper. The iPhone 8 price is much less when used than it is right out of a store front. This goes for most types of phones and many electronics. If you can find them online or secondhand, you’ll be able to save a lot of money.
