4 Android Apps to Save Battery Life

If you’re like me, you’re getting tired of your phone’s battery losing its charge so fast. When I first got my phone, the battery lasted the entire day. Now, the battery lasts half a day before needing to be recharged. The apps I have installed likely don’t help, but there are apps designed to help you save battery life.

And these apps are available for Android – some are available on iOS, too.

1. Amplify Battery Extender

The Amplify Battery Extender requires that you root your phone, but it’s a very powerful battery extender. What I really like about this app is that you can control your phone’s battery completely. You’ll be able to change settings for a lot of the basics, including:

  • Device wakeup frequency
  • Device stay awake duration

Recommended battery savings settings are provided, and you can customize everything from wakelocks to alarms, services and other options.

You can purchase the professional version or use the free version to start saving on battery life.

2. DU Battery Saver

The DU Battery Saver app is probably the world’s most popular battery saver. The app has been reviewed something like 13 million times, so it’s been highly tested. The app says that they have over 600 million users, too.

The company claims that their app can extend your battery life by as much as 80%.

When you install this app, it will unlock a plethora of features, including:

  • One-tap battery saver
  • Junk cleaner
  • Phone cooler
  • Battery monitoring
  • Battery saver
  • Healthy battery charging
  • Super long standby mode
  • App protection

The only downside of this app is that they have integrated a lot of ads into the app. The company needs to make their money somehow, so it’s understandable that they have ads. But when the ads are on your home screen, it does become intrusive.

3. Greenify

Greenify was featured on Lifehacker years ago, and the developer continues to advance this app to make it more user-friendly and feature-rich. The app has a lot of great features, and the power of the app shines with the Aggressive Doze option. This allows you to optimize your phone’s battery without even rooting your phone.

When you run Greenify, the app will start to scan your installed apps and try to determine which apps are battery hogs.

You can add these apps into the halt category, which will force them to stop taking up your phone’s resources. This lightweight app is very phone-friendly, helping keep your battery consumption low by requiring little CPU and RAM usage.

4. Battery Doctor

Battery Doctor claims to boost your battery life by 50%, and this app is completely free to use. The app is available on iOS and Android, so it’s a great option for iPhone users, too. Battery Doctor has 330+ million users and 8 million reviews.

The app’s key features include:

  • One-tap battery optimization
  • Healthy charge meter
  • Battery cooler
  • Power-saving widget
  • Smart use battery options

You’ll also be able to monitor your phone’s exact charging time in the app. You can kill all apps when the screen is off the further save battery life if you like. There is a three-stage charging system feature, too, which ensures that your battery is charged 100%.

Smart charging tips are provided in the app, and there is even a brightness control option available to further protect your battery’s life.

If you’re the outdoorsy type that finds that even these apps aren’t enough to keep your phone powered, there are portable charges for phones that I bring with me hiking to keep my phone charged. It’s a great way to make sure that you have access to your phone even when you’re far away from a power outlet.
