3 Apps and Devices to Make Your Home Smarter

Want to make your home smarter and your life easier? There’s an app for that. You’ll find that there are apps that can make your home far more comfortable. What apps are worth downloading or paying for?

1. Kasa

The Kasa app is free for iOS and Android, and it is designed to work with the TP-Link home system. When you have the system and the app, you’ll be able to:

  • Track your home’s energy usage
  • Turn all of your connected devices on and off
  • Customize your home’s lighting schedule
  • Create schedules for your entire home
  • Group all of your smart products

What will this app work with? Well, you can use it along with three major components:

  • Smart Wi-Fi LED lights
  • Wi-Fi Light Switch
  • Wi-Fi Plugs

It’s a solution that will allow you to control your home from anywhere in the world. And if you’re away from home, there’s also an “away mode,” which will do random things in your home, such as turn on lights and turn them off at random intervals.

2. Vivint Smart Home

Vivint is another smart home app, but it also requires you to have a lot of the company’s products. You can have the company install the products for you if you want, and everything can be controlled via an app.

And the company’s complete “smart home” setup is rather impressive.

When you use the company’s app and components, you will have access to:

  • Smart locks
  • Doorbell cameras
  • Outdoor cameras
  • Ping cameras
  • Garage door control
  • Element thermostat

You’ll be able to look at the camera at any time, from anywhere. You’ll be able to keep a close eye on your home at all times, and this is great when the kids are home or if you suspect someone is robbing your home.SLB Pipe Solutions

If you have a leak, you will be able to see the leak on the camera and call in a plumber to be able to fix the problem. You can even unlock the smart locks and watch the plumber the entire time when you’re not home.

You’ll also have 24/7 monitoring along with full smart home control.

3. SmartThings Mobile

SmartThings aims to make your home smarter, and it’s through the little things that this happens. Now, the company’s product works with a variety of smart devices, so you’ll have far more control over your smart home than with the Vivint.

For example, you can choose cameras, thermostats, light bulbs and other smart items that will be controlled through SmartThings.

In total, there are 247 different products that work with the app, so you really do have complete control over your home.

You can even receive a notification every time your home’s door is open. This can be used for anything, from knowing when the kids sneak out of the house to being alerted to a potential robbery.

The only major drawback is that you can’t create scenes for your lighting, so there is no means of being able to have ambient lighting in one room and bright lighting in another – all brightness levels remain the same.
